Obituary of Cherie Mae Skogerboe

Cherie Mae Ahnstedt Skogerboe passed away peacefully at Foxtail Senior Living on Saturday January 7th at the age of 80 surrounded by family. Cherie was born on March 9, 1942 to the late Lennie and Mary Mae Ahnstedt. Cherie graduated from New Plymouth High School, class of 1960. Following high school, she married her first husband in 1961 and married again in 1979 to Richard Dennis (Denny) Skogerboe. Cherie and Denny celebrated 43 years of marriage in 2021. Cherie made a career in banking for 30 years and retired from Orchard Bank in 2000. Cherie was involved in the community in several capacities such as: Chamber of Commerce, American Business Women's Association, Holy Rosary Hospital Board of Directors, Lifelong Learners, First Baptist Church of New Plymouth. Cherie was awarded "Business Associate of the Year" by the Five Rivers Chapter of American Business Women's Association in 1986 and "Woman of the Year" by Ontario Chamber of Commerce in 1991. Cherie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very proud to have witnessed the birth of both grandchildren. During retirement Cherie volunteered for Heart and Home and Love Inc. She enjoyed reading, camping, crossword puzzles, gaming on the computer or iPad, Toll painting, golfing and gardening. The last year of Cherie's life she was cared for and loved by the staff at Foxtail Senior Living. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband Richard Dennis Skogerboe. Surviving are her two daughters Lennette Meyer (Dave), Tonya Grant (Fred); one granddaughter (Kimberly Leatherman (Chad), one grandson (Quinton Beams (Holly), two great grandsons (Randen Rostock & Jhett Beams) and three great granddaughters (Keira Rostock, Lennon Beams & Finnley Leatherman). Also survived by a sister Barbara Cross (Dean). A memorial service will be held at Ten Mile Christian Church in New Meridian, Idaho on Thursday January 19th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services at Parkview Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. in New Plymouth, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church in New Plymouth. Service Details.
