Dear Carolyn and family, I remembered Robert as the manager of US Bank in Payette. I had just graduated from Fruitland HS and was planning on enrolling at The College of Idaho. I went in with my dad to seek a loan to help with the fees at the college. I was relieved when Mr. Kniefel gave the okay on the loan. I have been thankful ever since because it gave me the opportunity to enter college and pursue a career. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. He certainly had quite the resume. Carry on his legacy. From the Heart, Mike and Sue Sasaki

Bob was always a joy to be around! I must have been about age 8 when they moved to Payette. Kathy was a classmate and good friend. I played football with Bruce. My favorite Bob story: In our junior year, Doug Holloway masterminded an entry for the springtime "talent" contest by making a silent movie. The theme--"crime does not pay". In the first scene, Doug is explaining his plan to his fellow schemers. We all had certain characters to play. I was the driver, Pinky, as I had a pink suite to go with the name. We all had guns (shotguns...it was the 70's in Payette, Idaho) and the scheme was to rob the bank. I was given the task of convincing Bob to let us "rob" his bank. Amazingly, he agreed. He also played the part of the bank teller who got robbed. We stormed the bank (it was closed, a Saturday morning, but the audience did not know that). Bob looked terrified, put the money in a bag, and gave it to us. Soon after we drove off (I recall there were five of us in our gang), we were stopped by the local police (Doug's brother Daniel was a police officer) with sirens blaring and lights flashing. We were then taken to the local county jail and placed behind bars. Crime does not pay! We ended up in 2nd place at the talent contest (I am glad we did not get first). All the judges knew Bob well and were laughing so hard during his scene they could hardly contain themselves. Bob was such a good sport! Ben McCarroll

Uncle Bob was one of my Mom's favorite cousins. She told us stories about playing with him on the farm and making mudpies. My earliest memories of Uncle Bob where when we went to visit his family or when we had family get togethers. Uncle Bob always seemed to have a smile on his face and was quick to laugh. As we got a nearer high school age, I remember that Uncle Bob would always seek out one or two of us to talk about our experiences and interests. He would listen intently, asking questions that lead us to a recent accomplishment. Then he would smile and say 'well good for you'. That validation meant a lot to a young person. In my later years I lost touch with many of my cousins but I always remembered Uncle Bob with great fondness. I am sure that if there is a good-guy area of Heaven that Uncle Bob and my Mom are there, kids again, playing on the farm and running through the fields. Good for you Uncle Bob, good for you. My Heartfelt Condolences to family and friends, Scott Church
