Obituary of Robert Lee Turner

Robert was born to Corbet and Ruby Moore Turner June 11, 1938 in Payette, ID. Robert passed away September 2, 2022 in Garden City, ID. Robert was predeceased by his parents Corbet and Ruby, his wife Francis, his three sons Greg, Tony, and Chris. Robert is survived by his Grandson Zackery Turner of Lynnwood, WA and Zackery's mother Michelle of Lynnwood, WA, his three siblings Mary J. Clagg of Fresno, CA, Corbet C. Turner of Kissee Mills, MO, Sandra Humphreys and Jack of Huntsville, AL plus many nieces and nephews. As a young child his favorite toy was an old camera that he carried everywhere. After high school Robert joined the US Navy. He was stationed in Japan and Hawaii. After the service Robert returned to Boise, ID and went to work for a photographer. A short time later he went to work for a local TV station as a cameraman. Robert and his wife Francis moved to the Seattle area and Robert worked for KOMO TV station as a cameraman until his retirement. Upon retiring Robert and Francis moved back to the Boise ID area. During Robert's career he interviewed every president starting with President Kennedy up until he retired. Also, Robert covered the State of Washington Legislation sessions in Olympia for many years. Robert and his reporter interviewed a young Bill Gates and his partner in a garage. They asked if they would like to invest $100 in their company. Robert would laugh and tell this story and say that was one of his regrets. He should have invested a $100. Robert was a true mountain man and belonged to the American Mountain Man organization. He and Francis traveled to the yearly rendezvous for many, many years. Robert was also a rockhound that liked to make wire jewelry for all the family members. Robert was a very intelligent man that was robbed by dementia.
