Obituary of Joseph Rocha

Joseph Rocha was born on February 5, 1984, in Fresno, California. Joseph grew up surrounded by agriculture and his family. Joseph was a caring and active family member. He watched over his grandparent's house and property, always lending a helping hand wherever he could. His cousins and siblings have many fond memories of catching crawdads in the creek and having "dirt clod" wars together. Joseph also spent quality time with his brother and friends on hunting trips and riding quads in the Pismo Dunes. His recreational activities were always earned after long hours of work. From a young age, Joseph always demonstrated a strong work ethic when helping on the family farm. As an adult, Joseph, in partnership with his brother Manuel, owned and operated a goat dairy and farming business for many years in Madera, California. After moving to Idaho in 2015, Joseph and Manuel continued their farming business in the beautiful rolling hills of Idaho. Joseph showed great enthusiasm for holidays. He was known for his complex holiday decorations, costumes, and firework displays. He had a robust sense of humor; he loved a well-placed joke or prank. His contagious laugh was heard and loved by all. His interests spanned a wide spectrum including gardening, guns, ammunition, and history. He was known for his ability to fix just about any piece of farm equipment he encountered. He always had some sort of injury from tinkering with machines and equipment. Joseph had a special relationship with animals, befriending, and inspiring loyalty in even the grumpiest goat. He frequently was followed around by his many animal friends, ranging from cats to ducks to his beloved chihuahua, Shakira. Joseph was a model son. His faith was an inspiration to all, and his parents are incredibly proud of who he was and the influence he had on all those around him. He attended mass every weekend, prayed the rosary daily, and incorporated the Catholic faith into his life every day. At age 38, Joseph passed away on May 9, 2022, in his parents' home in New Plymouth, Idaho, after defying the odds and battling glioblastoma over the last 5 and a half years. In between brain surgeries and chemotherapy, Joseph was still able to enjoy his interests, work with his brother, and live a fulfilling life for many of those years. Joseph is greatly mourned by his parents Manuel and Jacinta Rocha, his siblings Manuel Rocha and Jacinta Cabral, and multiple nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. His sister and brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more are also grieving the loss of this wonderful man. Recitation of the rosary will be on May, 20th, 10:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be on May 20th, 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Ontario.
