Obituary of Klaus Dieter Meckert

Klaus was born on October 31, 1938 in Bayreuth, Germany.  He started school at the age of six but spent most of his time in a bomb shelter because of the War in 1944.  He attended school through 8th grade and then attended a trade school where he learned about horticulture for three years.. He worked in a garden from age 13 to 18, then move the the United States in 1956.

He lived in Payette, Idaho where his mother resided and worked for Genoway Greenhouse.  He worked hard to teach himself to read and write in English.  He applied for and got his citizenship in 2000 and was very proud to be a citizen.

He served for the National guard for four years and worked for Ore-Ida for 32 years.  He spend his retirement fishing and camping.

He is proceeded in death by both parents, Otto Meckert and Louise Strong.  He is survived by his wife Nancy Meckert of 58 years.  Children Tina Tibbetts, Heidi (Brad) Davis and Troy (Cherry) Meckert.  Grandchildren Nicklaus (Ashlie) Weathermon, Kyle (Corinne) Weathermon, Mikayla Tibbetts, Brianna and Bradi Davis, Karder, Noah and Eli Meckert.  Great Grand Children, Carter, Grayson, Isaac and Miles Weathermon and Oaklee Burda.

He is also survived by his family in Germany.  His brother Harald (Irmgard) Meckert, and Family.  Sisters Susi (Siegfried) Flurschutz, Moni Brendel. Also Hildegard Schneider and Family.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth.  A luncheon will follow graveside services at the VFW Hall 114 N. Plymouth Ave, New Plymouth, Idaho
