Obituary of Jan Hill

    Janice Louise Hill, age 79, of Council, ID died peacefully September 2, 2023 in Council, ID. 

    Janice Louis Hill was born in Anthony, Kansas on April 28,1944. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas which is the same place her father attended college. She graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor’s in education, which sent her into a teaching career that lasted 38 years in total. She taught first and second grade and taught over 600 students to read and write.

    She met Tom Hill while teaching in Juneau, Alaska and they were married on October 29^th, 1971 in a beautiful chapel by a pristine lake in true Alaskan style. They welcomed their son Jared to the world on January 26^th, 1973.  He quickly became the center of their lives, and he was her favorite student to love and cherish. Their family enjoyed three more wonderful years I Alaksa before returning to the lower 48. They planted roots in council, Idaho where Jan taught school for another 28 years. She taught first and second grade at Council Elementary School and always cherished her years there and the friendships made. She retired in 2005 but continued to teach any child that she came in contact with.

    Jan was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church in McCall, Idaho, and her bible close by her side and would often highlight her favorite passages.

    Jann is survived by her Husband, Thomas Lynn Hill of Council, Idaho, Son, Jared Thomas Hill of Council, Idaho.
